The 2012 Caymus Napa Valley Cabernet was a fantastic success for the winery, receiving 96 points from Robert Parker. Parker said “… copious quantities of crème de cassis and blackberry fruit, silky tannins, a voluptuous texture and stunning purity as well as length. This full-bodied effort is a fabulous example of Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon as well as a tribute to this amazing family.” We loved the wine, as did many of our customers, the entire vintage sold out in record time after this review was published.
Although released back in June, the 2013 Caymus Napa Cabernet has yet to be reviewed by a single significant wine reviewer. Nada! Zip! It is universally acknowledged that 2013 was a fantastic vintage for California Cabernet (and almost every other wine type as well). Yet despite this and despite the fact that all of these reviewers are now internet based, four months have passed without a peep. Even the winery has yet to release any information on it, other than that there is less of the wine available this year. What’s up?
In the resulting information vacuum, rumors abound. Social media is abuzz with contradictory opinions (no surprise there!) No one from the winery or distributor has come ‘round to pour us a taste, so we are as in the dark as most of you are! So, this Saturday from Noon until 3 PM, we will be lowering the veil and pouring the mysterious 2013 Caymus for your edification and our own. Stop by and decide for yourself!
