Feb. 2017

“The wine in the bottle does not quench thirst.” – George Herbert

2014 Lewis Cellars Napa Cabernet

2013 Lewis Cabernet was the Wine Spectator’s  #1 Wine of the Year, they said; “Their wines lie on the extreme edge of modern winemaking, with an opulence that comes from ripeness and dense, polished tannins; they also feature strong smoky, creamy vanilla and mocha accents from French oak… Few wineries perform as consistently as Lewis. Rated 95 points.” The 2013 sold out the day their list was published.

Here then is the 2014, from the third of California’s fantastic drought vintages!  Not yet reviewed, but you don’t need a weatherman to know which way this wind is blowing!

2014 The Crane Assembly – Disciples

From The Prisoner’s Dave Phinney, 93% Zinfandel and 7% Petite Sirah “ … Provençal herbs, and briary black cherry and blackberry fruit. It has terrific body, length, richness and viscosity. It is a sensational Zinfandel to drink over the next 5-7 years.” ~ Rated 94 Points Robert Parker

2014 Tensley Santa Barbara Syrah

Joey Tensley’s Rhone-inspired wines are already legendary; this 2014 is an incredible bargain!

”A sexy, sweetly fruited and voluptuous Syrah that offers up a rockin' bouquet of blueberry, blackberry, violets and pepper.” - Robert Parker

2010 Ch. Teyssier Montagne Saint-Emilion

“A classic Bordeaux that is superbly balanced and elegant. The 2010 vintage was a spectacular one for Bordeaux, so this is bargain-priced for that quality. Aromas of blackcurrant, cassis and smoke. Great cellar candidate though it's drinking well now. Nice finish. “ - Natalie MacLean, Wine Reviews Rated 92 points.

2014 Romain Collet
Chalbis "Les Pargues"

The Collet family has cultivated wines in fossil-rich limestone soil of Burgundy’s Chablis region since the late 1700′s. 2014 was a great vintage year for white burgundy, and the clean, crisp character of Collet’s dry, un-oaked Chardonnay here shows why!
