The Summer 's Last Dawn

Hello All,

As we hit the midway of August, we thought we should share of the new arrivals to the store--some are household names but a few are new finds.

--Your friends at The Wine Connection

“This morning, the sun endures past dawn. I realise that it is August: the summer's last stand.”
― Sara Baume, A Line Made by Walking

2015 Barone Ricasoli "Casalferro" Castello di Brolio, Tuscany, Italy

This was just an excellet surprise for us.

"A pure expression of Merlot, the 2015 Casalferro is a velvety and deeply enriched red wine. The magical forces of sunny Tuscany and exuberant Merlot are combined here to produce a wine of intensity. and sweet softness. It caresses the palate, thanks to the softness and the succulent nature of its texture. The warm 2015 vintage also leaves its mark in terms of concentration and richness." -- 92 points by Robert Parker/Wine Advocate

2012 Glenelly Estate Reserve Red Blend Stellenbosch, South Africa

For those who like Bordeaux this is an interesting pick that will likely not have come across your radar.

“Blackberry compote, pressed violets, mulberries and some eucalyptus. Full body, lots of delicious fruit, firm tannins and a flavorful finish. Drink in 2020. A blend of cabernet sauvignon, merlot, petit verdot and syrah...” -- 91 points by James Suckling

" Mature, showing a broad, loamy swath of currant and blackberry fruit flavors that have melded with smoldering tobacco and worn leather notes. Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz, Petit Verdot and Merlot. Drink now through 2019." --90 points by Wine Spectator

2016 Sea Smoke Southing Pinot Noir

We had just few bottles blow into the store, and we thought we would raise the flag for those who would not want to mist the opportunity.

" The ever-changing nose of the 2016 Southing exhibits dusty red fruit, savory spices and rose petals. The fine tannins and minerality are enhanced by our estate vineyard’s characteristic cool climate acidity.” ~ Don Schroeder, Winemaker

“Fruity and rich, with notes of chocolate nibs to the elegant dark fruit and spice flavors. Toasty details linger on the long finish, which features sandalwood accents. Drink now through 2023.” ~ Kim Marcus, Wine Spectator

2014 Silver Oak Napa Cabernet

Technically this is not a new arrival, but we just "found" a case off the back of a truck, if you will.

If you are looking for something to hold you over until the next release, then here you go....

1990 Silver Oak  Alexander Valley (6 liter) - SIGNED

Okay, again this is clearly not a new arrival, but we thought it was just something fun for the summer.

A classic wine in a 6-liter format with its own box, signed by the winemaker, Justin Meyer.  It's #74 out only 140 bottles.  What's not fun about that?
