2014 Y Rousseau
Old Vine Russ. River Colombard
Only 3 left!
These old vines are the last still planted in the Russian River Valley and they only seem to gain in finesse year after year. Minerality in a bottle! Dainty, delicate white flowers and chamomile tea on the nose with a lemongrass, star fruit and lime middle and a touch of salinity. Yannick Rousseau is from Gascony, home of Colombard, and salutes his homeland varietal with grace and charm. Oysters, a must… grilled fish, or simply by the pool, optional
The aromas show an early grapefruit concentration, fresh pears, green apple and hints of jasmine. In your mouth, the wine blossoms like a flower, you get all the aromas plus citrus fruit and the wine opens to a very bright citrus blossom flavor. There is a beautiful balance between the acidity, the texture and the richness. It is a pure delight to enjoy with seafood, sushi, grilled fish, Susanna’s Caesar Salad, spicy foods, pastas, roasted chicken and strong, creamy or blue cheeses…or simply as an Aperitif.
