The 2014 Puligny Montrachet 1er Cru les Folatières is more taciturn on the nose compared to the Les Pucelles, here, showing a touch of oyster shell, a subtle marine/crustacean influence. The palate is crisp and taut on the entry with good density in the mouth, a little richer than the Pucelles though without the same finesse and nervosité on the finish, at least at the moment. Give it 3-5 years in bottle because it may well offer more, because I like the salinity on the aftertaste.Wine Advocate 90-92
Chavy’s winemaking is hands off, and a low percentage of new oak allows the terroir to shine through in these pure, elegant wines. “Reticent apple and apricot nose, then a rich, full-bodied palate showing lively, assertive acidity with tension and piquancy. Very long mineral, stony finish.” Rated 93 Points ~ Decanter
