Rated 96 points Wine Spectator
Massive, rich and deeply flavored, packed with complex currant, mineral, spice, sage and cedary oak flavors and chewy but polished tannins. This one will require some patience.
Rated 94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The impressively rich, dense purple-colored 1994 Cabernet Sauvignon Madrona Vineyard exhibits a blueberry/blackberry/cassis-scented nose, with a touch of violets and subtle new oak. In the mouth, the wine has disguised its tannic clout with extraordinary extraction of fruit, medium to full body, and a silky yet powerful personality. It is a 20-25 year wine that can be drunk now or cellared. The 1994, 1995 and 1996 possess fabulous purity and an undeniable sweet, rich, creme de cassis-like fruit character. David Abreu's mailing list should be a high priority for readers who love California Cabernet.

David Abreu’s 1994 Cabernet Sauvignon Madrona Ranch is a dark, exotic beauty. Mocha, espresso, plums, black cherries and incense meld together in a rich yet quintessentially mid-weight Cabernet Sauvignon.
