1999 Domaine Robert Arnoux Nuits-Saint-Georges Les Poisets Cote de Nuits France

The young, dynamic Pascal Lachaux has once again made excellent use of, to use his words, ever improving raw materials. And specifically to his 99s, Pascal said his 99s have finer tannins as well as better acidity and overall balance compared to his 97s and 98s. Further, he believes the fruit quality is the finest he's ever seen and the wines will drink well young yet have the ability to age superbly well. Pascal confirmed the experience of many on the Côte as the 99 crop was a large one but with extremely small berries and very thick skins. As to 2000, even though it's quite early, he believes it will come in between 97 and 98 quality-wise though the acidities are lower than those in 98.
In other developments, Pascal reports that he bought 3 small parcels of Chambolle villages with 45-year-old vines that are all clustered around Amoureuses; the first vintage will be 2000. The Arnoux 99s will be bottled in January without fining or filtration.
This always performs well above its classification and 99 is no exception. Hints of Nuits sauvage character to go with the silky yet muscular flavors and quality depth and length. An excellent villages.
