2014 Laird Family Estate Flat Rock Ranch Cabernet Sauvignon Yountville, USA
Our Flat Rock Ranch vineyard is located near the north corner of where Yountville Cross Road meets Silverado Trail, on State Lane. This prized, complex fruit from the Yountville Appellation is a result of unique geological and meteoroligcal conditions: volcanic soils similar to the adjacent Stags Leap District, but also display ancient coastal deposits and sedimentary and alluvial soils that provide beneficial stress for our vines. Marine air currents from San Pablo Bay to the south are caught when they reach the "Yountville Mounts," providing a natural cooling effect that balances warm, sunny days that ripen the rich tannins of our hallmark Cabernet Sauvignon to elegant distinction.
The eye-catching vivid plum color is followed by alluring aromas of sweet tobacco, ripe cherries, and dark chocolate. This full-bodied wine has grippy tannins that are complimented by lively acidity and a lingering finish with flavors of tart boysenberry, roasted coffee, caramel, and baking spices.
Rated 93 Points James Suckling
I like the spice and blueberry character. Very aromatic. Medium to full body, firm and silky tannins and a refined finish. Shows tension and depth. Serious intensity to this young red. Better in 2020.
