Slightly confusingly, this Viognier is made by a producer called Marsanne…. But there’s nothing confusing about the wine, which is sophisticated and concentrated. It comes from Ardèche, just outside the St-Joseph appellation. Aged in 50% old oak for a creamy texture, alongside fresh, very floral aromas of jasmine, honeysuckle, acacia, peach, and apricot, followed by a rich, oily mouthfeel lifted by lively acidity. Powerful but well balanced, this is a classy Viognier.
