This is an elegant, sensual wine with lush texture, revealing sumptuous flavors of Rainier cherry, pomegranate, and cranberry. Burgundian aromatics of forest floor, orange zest, and caramel combine with a delicate softness that lingers on the palate.

Herby tones of eucalyptus and wild herbs meet with black-plum skin and rustic berries on the nose of this always compelling bottling from Catalina Island. That herbal complexity carries to the palate as well, where dark red-berry flavors are lifted by minty chaparral spices.

Coming from this estate’s vineyards on the tiny island of Catalina and brought up in 40% new French oak, the 2017 Pinot Noir reveals a medium ruby color as well as a terrific perfume of spiced red fruits, cinnamon, dried flowers, and salty minerality. It's medium to full-bodied, has a beautiful texture, ultra-fine tannins, and a great finish. It smells like Christmas Day with its incredible baking spice characteristics. It’s terrific today, and I suspect it will age gracefully for 7-8 years as well.
