2018 Donum Single Vineyard Russian River Valley Chardonnay California, USA

INTRODUCTION
The Winside Vineyard was planted to all Pinot Noir in 1997
and 2008, but over the years we couldn’t help but think that
Chardonnay might also thrive on this site. In 2015 we elected to
t-bud some different Pinot clones onto the already existing root
system of a block of Pinot Noir to learn what might perform best on
this site. In addition, we took a small section and budded over to
Chardonnay. In just it’s third vintage, it is already clear that this is an
exceptional Russian River Valley Chardonnay site.

WINEMAKER NOTES
The Russian River Valley Chardonnay is higher in acid than our
Carneros, but it actually comes across as more rich thanks to the
incredible concentration of fruit. Peach, pear, and granny smith
apple come to mind first, along with exotic spice notes and just a
hint of oak. The finish coats the palate, yet finishes very dry.

The 2018 Chardonnay Russian River Valley Estate is a beautiful Chardonnay from Donum with tons of energy. Scented of honeycomb, quince paste, white peaches and jasmine, the palate is dynamic, its rich, nutty fruits enlivened by bright acidity and minerality, finishing long and layered.
