Winemaker Notes
Mayacamas, the Napa Valley winery on the slopes of Mount Veeder, has announced the release of its 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon and the re-release of its 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon.
In keeping with the practices employed with the library vintage a decade prior, Winemaker Braiden Albrecht and Consulting Winemaker Andy Erickson produced the 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon utilizing techniques that are integral to the character of the vineyard’s wines and synonymous with the Mayacamas name, the company says.
“Keeping with our classic technique, we harvested the grapes early in 2018 for our signature varietal to retain high acidity that the Cabernets from Mayacamas are known for,” says Albrecht. “The 2018 Cabernet has a powerful frame that is plush with detail and nuance and drives a persistent finish, which aligns well with the 2008 vintage’s palate with a firm mountain structure and excellent fruit concentration.”
