2017 Clos de la Tech Domaine Lois Louise Twisty Ridge Pinot Noir, Santa Cruz Mountains, USA

$99.99 USD $462.00 USD

The fruit was hand harvested September 26th to October 5th, 2017. After a 5 to 10 days cold soak, the grapes underwent traditional vinification methods including foot crushing, whole cluster fermentation with native yeast, malolactic fermentation on lees, and gravity transfer. The wine was aged in Francois Frères barrels (Bertrange Forest) for 19 months and was bottled unfiltered.

The thin (18-inch) clay-loam topsoil and cold windy weather of Twisty Ridge produce our “big red wine.” Ronn Wiegand: “An excellent wine (****). Intense, youthful, and both richly fruity (plum, blackberry) and herbal-peppery (green herbs, black pepper), with light oakiness. The palate is supple and concentrated. This is a rich, somewhat bigger and higher tannin wine with years of development ahead. It is lightly oaky, with a very persistent aftertaste. Likely at its best in 2024-2028.”

"This bottling sports a heavily soil-drven nose, enhanced by dried berry, singed herb and chipped graphite. The palate is texturally solid, framing fennel frond, leather and rich fruit flavors, with a hint of mahogany at the end."
