2019 Germano Ettore Barolo Prapo Barolo DOCG Italy

$87.99 USD

Winemaker Notes
Garnet red with light orange reflections. Intense fragrance of dried fruits, with notes of vanilla and underlying sweet red fruits, thanks to the sand that is present in the soil. A great balance of strength and elegance, a pleasant tannin that cleans the palate leaving a good finish of olfactory sensations.

Rated 95 Point Decanter
Ettore Germano's Prapò is planted on marl and clay soil. The grapes were macerated for 40 days in 2019, and the wine aged in big oak casks for 24 months. Sleek, with leafy lightness to the fore, the nose is poised with sweet violet, cinnamon and the freshness of red currants. The attack is crunchy with crisp acidity, then a grainy texture and a stern finish. This is a very classic example of Barolo from Serralunga. It doesn't come across as over-extracted but still needs more time before drinking.

Rated 94 Points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The 2019 Barolo Prapò (with fruit from Serralunga d'Alba) is a rich and amply fleshed-out wine with dark fruit aromas, plenty of spice and dried rose, along with grilled rosemary and cola. You also get that reddish, metallic earthy note that appears so frequently in wines from this part of the appellation.
