Winemaker Notes
Notes of raspberry, ground laurel, garrigue and butterscotch. The mouth is very elegant with velvety tannins and a long dark berries and licorice finish.

The 2020 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee Mourre des Perdrix (roughly 70% Grenache and 15% each Mourvèdre and Syrah) offers up garrigue-laden, lavender-scented florals, plus oodles of purple raspberries. Full-bodied and silky, it finishes long and fresh. It looks like another excellent vintage here.

The 2020 Châteauneuf Du Pape Cuvée Mourre Des Perdrix comes from slightly more sandy soils around the estate and is 69% Grenache, 15% each Syrah and Mourvedre, and a splash of Cinsault. Ripe cherries, dried raspberries, spice box, Provençal herbs, and savory flower notes all define the bouquet, and it hits the palate with full-bodied richness, a seamless, elegant mouthfeel, ultra-fine tannins, and a great finish. This is always the most seamless and finesse-driven of Charbonniere’s releases, and while it will drink well on release, it has the capacity to evolve for 15-20 years.
