2020 Inkwell 'Road to Joy' Shiraz - Primitivo, McLaren Vale, Australia

$276.00 USD

Winemaker Notes:
Inkwell Wines is recognised as one of the 50 Best Vineyards in Australia for our zealous organic and regenerative approach to winegrape growing. Head wine maker Dr. Irina Santiago-Brown has been recognised as the top woman viticulturist in Australia in 2015 and, as part of her PhD thesis, is the author of the sustainability system that has been adapted as the Australia national system.

All Inkwell wines are made in one tonne fermenters with wild yeast completing fermentation with no other additions prior to gentle basket pressing. Pretty much pre-historic technique in a fanatically clean environment.

Wine Notes:
Road to Joy is a single vineyard Inkwell estate blend of 85% Shiraz and 15% Primitivo (aka Zinfandel). Hand picked from Inkwell’s certified organic vineyard and wild-fermented on site without chemical additions. Road to Joy is then barrel aged in larger format French and American oak for sixteen months. Grown in thin loam soil over the Pirramimma Sandstone formation. Minimum effective SO2 added.

Tasting Notes:
A warm and inviting blend that marries the brambly flavours and acidic lift of Primitivo with Inkwell’s dark and savoury Shiraz. Inkwell’s savoury all-rounder whether with pizza and BBQ’s or a roast meal and a warm fire.
