Winemaker Comments
Winegrowers Carlo Mondavi & Giovanna Bagnasco are excited to share these limited bottlings from their small vineyard site in Diano D’Alba, Piemonte, Italy.

"In a steep, raw territory caught between the breezes of the Mediterranean Sea and fresh air of the Italian Alps is where the story of Sorì della Sorba begins. Found in the village of Diano D’Alba within the winemaking region of Langhe, Sorì della Sorba is a southfacing amphitheatre of vines surrounded by a native and biodiverse forest. Winegrowers Carlo Mondavi & Giovanna Bagnasco farm with the utmost respect for nature, allowing their two bottings to become the purest expression of this unique site."

"Sorì della Sorba is a special estate bottling dedicated to producing a small bottling at the absolute highest level from our beautiful site in wine. Estate grown, produced and bottled from a selection of our best lots of this noble - and what Italy considers to be the King of grape varieties - Nebbiolo. Sorì della Sorba is the historical name of this vineyard site, and highest reflection of our land going back to the first whispers of this indigenous variety in the 1200s. In Piemontese dialect a “Sorì” is the special designation of greatness, or “grand cru”, and translates to: “where the snow melts first” which often means south facing, and highest on the hill."

"The 2021 vintage was a beautiful vintage yielding a wine that is lovely now, and will benefit with cellar ageing for decades to come. Lifted aromas with notes of crushed black cherries, rose petals, wet rock, fennel seed, white truffles and forest floor. On the pallet, the wine builds with wild berries, dried rose petals and lavender, orange pith, damp forest floor, truffle and wet rock. Fine grained tannins build as they hold together the delicate floral notes as the wine lingers on leaving a complete imprint of the incredible site this wine was grown. 100% Nebbiolo"
