2022 Vincent Wengier 1er Cru Chablis Vaillons, Burgundy, France

$44.99 USD $50.00 USD

WHY WE LOVE IT
Chablis Premier Cru takes its name from the Latin term valis, meaning small valley.
With its south-eastern exposure, Vaillons mainly benefits from the sun in the morning.
The vineyard consists of shallow soil which allows the grapes to ripen quickly. On the deeper soils have a high concentration of compact Kimmeridgian limestones.
Varietal Composition: 100% Chardonnay

Elaboration: The vines have a south/east exposure, they mainly benefit from the sun in the morning. Slow fermentation in good conditions for about a month. Malolactic fermentation is triggered naturally. Aging is done in thermo-regulated stainless steel vats on fine lees to bring to the wine all its roundness and aromatic complexity.

Tasting Notes: Golden yellow in color. Very inviting nose of white and flinty flowers. The mouth is round and enveloping with a charming style.

PRODUCER BACKGROUND
Vincent Wengier is a fourth-generation Chablis winemaker who, along with his wife, Sophie, has produced wine under his name since 2018. Domaine Vincent Wengier was first established in 1950 and is located in the southwest region of the appellation, in the village of Prehy, two hours southeast of Paris.

The Wengiers manage 27 hectares of vines, spread over four appellations. They hold HVE (high environmental value) certification to promote fauna and flora within the vineyard. Their careful attention to detail in the vineyards has also earned them organic certification, effective in 2023.
