The 2010 Nuits St. Georges Les Chaignots wraps around the palate with layers of black fruit, spices and menthol. It shows fabulous depth and richness in a relatively full-bodied, opulent style for the domaine. It comes across as quite open and ready for business, although it is hard for me to see this not shutting down in bottle. Anticipated maturity: 2015-2025. (AG)

Bright, deep red. Redcurrant, spices and smoky oak on the rather subdued nose. In a distinctly sunnier style than the village Vosne, with strong soil tones to the musky spice and red fruit flavors. Finishes smoky, saline, tactile and long, with substantial dusty tannins. I don't find quite the eclat of the Vosne villages; despite this wine's firm finish, I'd be tempted to drink it first. (ST)
