Distiller Notes
Casa Tequileña is owned and operated by Enrique Fonesca, known as El Arquitecto, a fifth-generation grower and master distiller who holds one of the largest plots of agave in the industry. This añejo is made to showcase the oak without overshadowing the agave. The nose is amazing! Again, subdued and needing to be coaxed, but incredible when it finally arrives. Nutty aromas with toasted vanilla, but neither rich nor oaky. Warm baking spices on the palate, which is incredibly lean for an añejo! This is a blend of two- and three-year-old tequilas aged exclusively in French oak barrels, which are then blended and aged for at least another year in American oak barrels seasoned with red wine. Black pepper and fruit on the finish with more roasted nuts. Divine!

Press

Declared "Best Añejo Tequila" and scored 95 points by the Beverage Testing Institute: "Amber color. Aromas of peanut brittle, ripe apple, flamed orange, cafe latte, leather, foraged mushrooms, and brown butter with a chewy, lively, dry-yet-fruity medium-to-full body and a peppery, very complex, very long spiced peach chutney, luxury tobacco, and red tea finish. A flavor-packed, cognac-like Añejo tequila with delicate fruity nuance and big toasty brawn." (04/2019)
