The 2021 Riesling Forster Pechstein Grosses Gewächs has only a slight ring of Mirabelle on its shy nose. The palate is uncompromisingly bright, with a stony backdrop and an intensely vivid acidity, buffered but certainly not for beginners. This is countered by much stony solidity and substance. A zesty body shows immense depth. This is a monumental and exquisite wine without a single ounce of fat that will take time to blossom. The length is immense. Analytical values of 9g/L of acidity and 1.8g/L of residual sweetness give you an idea of what I mean by monumental. (Bone-dry)
