Château Clos de Sarpe is one of the Saint-Emilion estates whose reputation is inversely proportional to the size of its vineyard.
Indeed, the vineyard of Clos de Sarpe extends on a surface of hardly 4 hectares of a argilo-calcareous soil on the hillside. The property is only planted with old vines whose average age is close to 70 years. The grape varieties are dominated by Merlot with the addition of Cabernet Franc.
As a family property for three generations, Château Clos de Sarpe is managed according to traditional and natural principles, limiting yields and applying the principles of sustainable agriculture and hand-picking.
Château Clos de Sarpe 2015 is a blend of Merlot (85%) and Cabernet Franc (15%), aged in new oak barrels.
In the glass, the Clos de Sarpe 2015 is adorned with a magnificent purple color, tending towards garnet on the rim of the glass.
On the nose, it distils a bouquet loaded with black berries cooked with candied blackberries and blueberry tart. On the second nose, notes of liquorice, truffles and earth emerge in turn, accompanied by a subtle and delicate touch of freshly cut roses.
On the palate, Château Clos de Sarpe 2015 is simply exceptional! It offers an attack as full-bodied and concentrated as it is full of ardor and exuberance. The mid-palate coats the palate with fresh and fruity notes, vibrant and expressive, supported by ripe and grainy tannins, before finishing on a finish of epic length!

Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2015 Clos de Sarpe gives up gorgeous blackberry, black cherries and warm plums notes with sparks of redcurrants and anise with a potpourri, tilled soil and bay leaves undercurrent. Full-bodied and packed with spicy energy in the mouth, it has a firm yet plush texture and fantastic freshness, finishing on a lingering earthy note.
