Castell d'Age Anne Marie Comtesse Brut Nature Reserva Cava, Catalonia, Spain

$19.99 USD

Winemaker Notes

Sparkling dry white; dried fruit and nuts | Fish and semi-matured cheeses

«Anne-Marie» could be seen as the most feminine of this matriarchal family’s cavas. It highlights the intrinsic qualities of the three traditional varieties: floral topnotes, fresh cream in the middle and a sustained autolytic bassline. As with traditionally-made (i.e. bottle-fermented) cava, the mousse is fine, well-integrated and persistent, highlighting the complexity of the wine. The Brut Nature is the driest version available and our favourite both as an aperitif and with lighter tapas.

The Catalonian Junyent family first planted vines in the 20th century. But it was only when the estate passed into the hands of the enterprising womenfolk that they started making wines. It is now the third generation of women who are working the land according to biodynamic practices. The vines are spread over 6 vineyards, which allows them to find optimum altitudes and soils for each grape variety.
