"Outstanding* A deft touch of wood sets off spicy, dense and well-layered aromas of plum and black cherry liqueur that precede impressively extract-rich and mouth coating flavors that possess a velvety texture on the powerful and persistent finish. Despite the presence of so much extract the finish evidences a slight austerity that reminds one that this is definitely a classic Gevrey from a cool terroir. At least a decade of patience will be required."

The 2010 Gevrey-Chambertin Les Corbeaux comes across as cool, inward and virile. It possesses stunning mid-palate presence and depth. Layers of black cherry, blackberry, spices and graphite emerge on the intense, palate-staining finish. Here, too, it is the energy and textural breadth that set the wine apart. This parcel was planted in 1920. I can’t wait to taste the Corbeaux in bottle.

"(30% new oak): Full ruby-red. Crushed blackberry, licorice and menthol on the nose. Dense and juicy, with an urgent quality to the vibrant flavors of black fruits, licorice and violet; excellent harmonious acidity and supporting minerality here. The resounding finish shows chocolatey tannins and very good vinosity and length."
