Rated 96 points Decanter
The Dugat-Pys' 0.5ha parcel has an average age of 60 years and faces east on clay-dominated soils. Made with 60% whole clusters and 66% new wood, it's plusher and denser than some of the domaine's Premiers Crus with slightly shuttered tannins, plenty of colour and dark fruit intensity, racy acidity and the structure and concentration to age further in bottle. Drinking Window 2023 - 2033.

Here the more expressive nose is quite floral and high-toned with its mélange of red currant, pomegranate and soft earth scents. Once again there is excellent mid-palate density to the sleek, intense and powerful flavors that flash fine detail and minerality on the mildly austere, complex and strikingly long finish. This is a classic Champeaux of power and grace though one that is also clearly constructed to age for years.

Rated 92-94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The 2018 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Champeaux is a beautiful wine in the making, unfurling in the glass with aromas of cassis and smoky dark berries that mingle with notions of grilled squab, licorice and rich loamy soil. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, fleshy and elegantly muscular, with an ample and concentrated core framed by powdery tannins and lively acids. Fermented with 60% whole cluster, this is another cuvée that was formerly matured entirely in new barrels but saw only 66% new oak this year. Produced from very old vines, the Champeaux was often purchased by Maison Leroy in the days before the Dugat family began domaine bottling.
