2019 Lucien Le Moine Clos Saint-Denis Grand Cru, Cote de Nuits, France

$489.99 USD

Producer note:
Mounir and Rotem Saouma established their two-person micro-négoce in 1999 that focuses almost exclusively on the very best 1ers and grands crus in both red and white though in 2019 there is a wine from Morgon and a villages level Vosne. With respect to the 2019 vintage, Mounir told me that " it was another dry, hot and very sunny vintage that gave us superb raw materials with which to work. There is a special intrinsic energy in the 2019s, be they red or white, that has become increasingly apparent during the course of the élevage. In this sense they remind me of our 2018s though they're different from the 2019s in that they're riper if no less energetic. I think that the 2019s have the potential to be something really special in time as they have everything they need." While some wines are clearly more successful than others, I found a number of the Le Moine 2019s to be seriously good.

Tasting note:
A delicately spicy nose offers up gorgeously pure aromas lavender, violet and red cherry. The refined, equally pure and beautifully textured medium weight flavors possess excellent length on the energetic, compact and well-balanced finale. This lacy but punchy wine should age effortlessly.
