"Domaine Gros Frère & Sœur is a Burgundy producer that’s still managing to fly just under the radar, yet consistently produces some of the region’s best examples of Pinot Noir, Domaine Gros Frère & Sœur. The Domaine has some enviable plots, owning 20 hectares of vines across eight appellations – most notably within the Grand Cru vineyards of Chambolle-Musigny, Flagey-Echézeaux and Vosne Romanée. Bernard Gros stepped down a few years ago handing over the reins to his son Vincent, who now oversees all aspects of the winemaking. The top wines now receive around 50% new oak from the very finest quality barriques, radically reducing the oak influence his father gave to his wines, a change which is allowing the bright fruit shine through."

“Aromas of essence of plum, red cherry, earth and background hint of oak where a lurking hint of crushed leaf character is also present. There is excellent mid-palate density to the solidly constructed, indeed even robust, flavors that display solid power on the balanced and lingering finale that is also youthfully austere. At least moderate patience will be required and is recommended.”
